Who is CIL & how will my information be used?
Who is CIL ?

CIL distributes Caravan and RV insurance and is part of AAI Limited - one of Australia’s largest insurers under the Suncorp Group

CIL has been Australia’s leading Caravan and RV insurance specialist for over 50  years – it’s all we do – and we insure more recreational vehicles in Australia than any other insurer.

How will my information be used? 

CIL will call to provide an obligation free quote, valid for 12 months.

With your consent, your RV Dealer will provide CIL with your contact information for the purpose of requesting on your behalf  an obligation free quote. 

Once your information has been sent by your Dealer to our Customer Service Centre, a Confirmation Email will be sent to you by CIL to advise you that a representative will call you within 2 business days to assist you with a quote.

If we can’t reach you 

A quote will be sent out in the mail and/or via email by CIL if they are unable to contact you via telephone. The email will include a FREECALL 1800 number. 

After this letter and/or email, no further attempts will be made to contact you for a quote.

Secure data storage (governed by the Suncorp Group Privacy Policy) 

Your information will be both entered and stored in a secure environment at all times in accordance with the Suncorp Group Privacy Policy. It will be used for the purpose for which it was obtained i.e. to provide you with an insurance quote, and from time to time, marketing communications/offers via email or SMS, which you are free to opt out of at anytime. You can gain access to your personal information by calling CIL.

Future Communications – keeping you informed 

CIL may from time to time email you newsletters featuring special offers, product changes/enhancements, news, travel tips and promotions. You may at anytime request exclusion from marketing emails by selecting the ‘opt out’ link on these communications.

Customer Introduction to CIL – Dealer’s Guide
Your customer must be advised of the following prior to personal information being entered into the online form:
  • Introduce CIL Insurance and ask the customer if they would be interested in obtaining an obligation free quote from CIL.
  • Explain to the customer that as part of your service, you can refer them to CIL by emailing their contact details via a secure site to CIL. A CIL representative will then call within 48 hours to provide an obligation free quote.
  • The quote will be valid for 12 months, therefore, will not be subject to potential price changes during this time period.
  • Provide the customer with a CIL Brochure (optional)
  • Obtain the customer’s consent to being contacted via email or telephone regarding a quote

Please inform the customer that

  • Their personal information will be stored and used in accordance with Suncorp’s Privacy Policy (available from the CIL website cilinsurance.com.au )
  • Their information is secure and is collected for the purpose of providing a quote.
  • The customer can at any time opt out from any future marketing communications from CIL
  • The customer can at anytime request access to their personal information by calling us.

Dealers must not
  • Provide financial advice i.e. recommend or state, for example, that
    • “the CIL product is a great product”
    • “CIL insurance is the best RV insurance”
    • “that you (the dealer) would go with CIL if you (the dealer) were to insure an RV”

Dealers may make factual statements, for example:
  • “CIL is the leading insurance brand in the market”
  • “Have been around for over 45 years”
  • “CIL is one insurance company you might want to consider”
  • Answer any customer questions relating to CIL and CIL products base on the facts and NOT opinion, recommendation or preference. Maintain objectivity and impartiality at all times.

The benefits of electronic lead capture

No Call Centre Queues

As Dealers are not authorised to give insurance quotes, the online lead form is a quick and convenient way of assisting your customer to obtain an obligation free RV insurance quote service.

No sales process. No administration. No paperwork.

Provided you obtain the customer’s expressed consent, simply enter the customer’s details into the online lead form, and press the SUBMIT button. The CIL Contact Centre will then:

  • Automatically email your customer a request acknowledgement.
  • Will contact the customer within 48 hours to provide a quote.
  • If the customer cannot be contacted via telephone, a copy of the quote will be sent in the mail and also via email.
Guaranteed Commissions – clear lead source tracking

Once CIL receive the lead, we will manage the sales process:

  • A Unique Dealer Code is automatically allocated against the customer record.
  • When the customer takes out a policy with CIL, the sale is recorded against the Dealer source (unique Dealer Code), and a commission is allocated. 
  • Quotes will be valid for 12 months. Your lead will be valid for 12 months.
  • More dealer commissions –as the customer is not relied upon to communicate the dealer as a referrer at the time of quote issue.
Accurate lead status reporting

All leads will be stored in our secure database (according to the Suncorp Group Privacy Policy), with conversion status logged against each lead.

CIL can report on the status of all leads against each Unique Dealer Code to determine commission entitlements.

How do we track leads and commissions

Tracking via a Unique Dealer Code

Each time you log into the online Dealer Quote Request Form using your assigned Unique Dealer Code (unique dealer identifier), the source of all leads you enter thereafter is recorded against that source in the Quote Request Database.

Lead Status Tracking & Commission Allocations

Our Customer Service Team will contact your customer within 48hrs to provide them with a quote. The quote will be valid for 12 months, ensuring the quote price is fixed if RV delivery is pending. Should this be the case, our Team will arrange with the customer to follow-up on the quote provided closer to the delivery date.

All customer correspondence will be documented and a status assigned and updated against the customer’s file. For example:

  • QUOTE ISSUED
  • NO SALE
  • COULD NOT CONTACT

Customer files are closed once:

  • A sale is made
  • The customer does not take up the policy
  • Once the quote is sent to the customer via mail and/or email.

Your commission is determined by the number of ‘closed’ sales that are against your Unique Dealer Code. These sales are automatically tracked in conjunction with the activity in our call centre, and your customer.

Once a quote is issued, leads will remain in the database pipeline for 12 months, until a Sale, or the customer advises the policy will not be taken up – whichever occurs first. Obviously, when a quote is converted into a policy, the dealer is allocated a commission at that point in time.
